Georgia: We'd rather do nothing and let kids keep getting murdered.
The price of having guns in a few houses is the blood of innocents, and folks in power are fine with that.

Three days after my 6th birthday, my school went into a lockdown. It went into lockdown because there was a shooter at the university less than two miles away from my school. A year and a half before, there had been a mass shooting at the same university, where 32 people were killed.
I don't remember any of these things happening. I was too young.
A couple of years ago, my mom told me the story about when I came home from school and told her about the lockdown drill we did. My mom and my sister, who was eight at the time, made eye contact. My mom and my sister both knew that it wasn't a drill. And even at eight, she knew not to tell me.
In the aftermath of the Georgia school shooting, I am left thinking about this. I am thinking about the fact that my mother always hugged me before school, every single day, because she was terrified she wouldn't see me come home. And now, I'm thinking about the families who didn't have their kids come home.
I have watched multiple different videos of students of that high school talking about what happened. I saw a girl talking about how the shooter pointed the gun at her and ran towards her. I saw a boy talking about one of the teachers who had been killed, about how the last thing they talked about was his tardies. And I saw a girl talking about how the killer had been sitting next to her in class before all of this happened.
These are all children. They should not have to deal with this.
nobody should

The story is slowly emerging on Georgia school shooter Colt Gray
Tumblr media
The teen's childhood was unstable, with the young teen moving to at least three rental homes in a short period of time.
The subsequent divorce between Colin and Marcee Gray separated the family of five. Colt went to live with his father, while the two younger siblings initially lived with their mother.
MORE..
The mother of alleged Georgia school shooter Colt Gray once described herself as victim of abuse and boasted online that her kids were “thriving” — around the same time authorities visited her son to probe an alleged threat he made to shoot up his school.

THERE ARE ONLY 14 DAYS LEFT UNTIL AUDITIONS FOR THIS PROJECT CLOSE. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN TAKING PART, PLEASE REACH OUT WITH YOUR TAPES.
CALLING ALL VOICE ACTORS
Of all shapes, colours & sizes
I'm making a full-length animated film version of The Raven Cycle in my spare time. I'm so close to finishing it. (Check out this post for more information)
Making the puppets and sets is one thing, but... I need a cast of actors to bring them to life.
I don't care whether you have years of experience or none - if you want to take part in this, you're welcome to audition. There are no age requirements; all ages are welcome in this project.
What is voice acting?
“Voice acting” covers a few different things, so I'm just going to quickly go over them here.
If you can do very good accents or impressions of accents for long periods of time, that counts as voice acting. If you can make your voice sound believably older or younger than you actually are, that counts as voice acting. If you can do DND voiceovers, narrations & characterisations with your voice, that counts as voice acting. If you can do cartoonish voices to make people laugh, that counts as voice acting. If you can do long-term speeches, narrations and voice-overs in your natural speaking voice (such as reading a book aloud without losing breath or momentum, or giving a presentation, or reading an advert), that counts as voice acting. If you can do character voices while reading aloud and have the characters sound distinctly different from one another, that counts as voice acting. If you can distort your voice or exaggerate it, that counts as voice acting. If you can do animal noises or sound effects, that counts as voice acting. When I say “voice acting”, I mean all of these things. If you can do any of them, you're welcome to audition.
NOTE: The puppets include characters which are POC, racial minorities, characters from specific locations and characters with English as an additional language. In order to best represent these communities, I would strongly prefer to be including voice actors who are themselves POC, racial minorities, who are from / live in those locations, and who have a native or fluent understanding of the other languages (ie: I don't wanna pick a white English guy to be the voice of a mixed-raced Appalachian character, even if he can do a good “American” accent for fun).
If you're interested in this project, take a look through the character list below, and then scroll down to see how to submit your audition tape, and to find out more details about how all of this will work.

10 - 15 adult voices: a mix of old money Blueblood American. States and races aren't specified.
6 - 10 child voices: a mix of old money Blueblood American. States and races aren't specified.
Someone who can whistle a tune, in case LYNCH'S actor cannot.
5 who can wolf-whistle and whistle on a dog, in case KAVINSKY & HIS FRIENDS’ actors cannot.
Someone who can do a baby's cry. (If you have a baby of your own… this could be a good Plan B, if you're willing to consent on their behalf.)
Someone who can laugh loudly.
3 - 6 people who can do cat noises (if you have cats who are willing to cooperate and speak into a microphone… this could also work.)
Up to 12 people who can do wildlife noises (birds, chipmunks, squirrels, etc) because I do not suggest chasing these animals around with a microphone…
4 people who can hiss very loudly in different tones.
Someone who can do goat noises, or alternatively sheep noises (bleating, etc) (or who has their own goat/s &/ or sheep who would be willing to speak into a microphone)
9 people who can scream in various emotions.
If you are interested in auditioning for one of these roles, follow the steps below & read the small print at the bottom of this post.
1: Send me a sample of your voice / voices - this can be a video of you playing DND, or streaming, or just a video of you talking to yourself in your room, or a clip of yourself that's been posted on another social media which demonstrates your vocal abilities (not TikTok, I don't have the app anymore so cannot play clips sent directly from there via links). If possible, provide more than one sample.
2: Along with this, please include a short infographic about yourself - your name / whatever you want to be called when referred to, any pronouns you have, your age, and a little about yourself. What do you do in your spare time? Are you a student or a professional? Do you like animals? What's a funny memory, or a sad memory, or something that annoys you? Would you love yourself if you were a worm? I want to get to know you all. You can include this information as written text, or you can record a short video or audio of yourself discussing this information.
3: Send this information to me via Discord (Rabb1tPr1nce). Make sure you include the name of the character you would like to audition for. If you have questions (how many lines a character has, how many scenes will your voice be in, etc) feel free to ask! There's no such thing as a stupid question, and you won't be bothering or disturbing me.
4: I don't know how many audition tapes I'll get for this, or which characters will be more popular, but I'm expecting to have a few options for each of the main ones one. As such, I will select my favourites (preferably 3+ potential actors for each character) and send you sample scripts. Send me back an audio or video of you reading the script in-character. Don't worry about mistakes or retakes - seeing your fuck-ups will help me get a sense of how to help you achieve the best result possible when it comes to recording the final audio.
5: If you're not in the top picks for the character you auditioned for, it's still possible for me to cast you as another character I think you'll be better suited to, or as an additional voice - this means that you'll be providing a background voice, which will involve some improv. I can't promise every actor will be given one of these background roles if you don't get the part of your desired character, but it's something to keep in mind. Aim for the moon, land among the stars, that kinda logic.
If you want to improve your chances of getting a background part as a Plan B, include weird noises in your audition tape. Can you do a drunk voice while sober? Can you laugh on command? Can you sound evil? Can you sound not quite human? Can you do animal noises? Can you cry or scream or howl or wail? Can you whistle, like you’re calling a flock of sheep and their dog back? Can you whistle a song? If you can show me things like this, you've got a higher chance of getting a bizarrely specific background voice role.
If you do get a background role, I'll send you a script with either instructions for improv, or a list of weird noises - this will be your second audition, to secure the background role.
6: I'll pick the final cast based on the SECOND AUDITION combined with the first. If you're part of the named cast, this means the sample script I sent you. If you're part of the background cast, this means the improv or weird list of stuff I sent you.
Anyone who doesn't make the cut will be told personally - I won't ghost you.
7: For those who do make the final cast, CONGRATS. It might not be the character you auditioned for, but you're part of this project and that's amazing. But there are a few…. Terms, conditions, provisios & limitations.
The script & screenplay are broken into 4 parts - 1 part for each book. In order to avoid spoilers (& to pique curiosity), I will not be sending any of you the full script or the full screenplay. You will receive only the scenes your character is in, and contextual notes for the mood & relevant themes at that point of the film, and some directions for what your character's puppet is doing. This means that some of you will have much larger scripts than others.
You will all receive tone indicators, emotion & mood cues and instructions, in order to be confident you're interpreting the text correctly.
You can ask to receive a run-through demo of some scenes - this means I will send you a silent clip of morph-puppets playing the scene out. However, I can only do this for a certain number of scenes, as it does take a while and I'm doing this outside of work hours, so please only ask for this option if you're having severe difficulty portraying the scene based on the script, contextual screenplay, indicators and books already at your disposal.
NO EXCEPTIONS, EXCLUSIONS OR REFUNDS
I have stated that all ages are welcome to take part in this project. That includes minors.
If you are under 18, please be honest about it - this helps me keep everyone in this project safe.
I will be naming all cast members in the film credits, as well as in a written statement in the video description on YouTube. It is up to you how I name you - full name, name and initial, just initials, a nickname, a username… it's up to you.
IF YOU ARE UNDER 18, I WILL BE USING EITHER A NICKNAME OR USERNAME YOU PROVIDE ME WITH, OR YOUR NAME AND INITIAL, FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION.
I don't wanna have to deal with lawyers over this, guys. This project is all for fun - so let's keep it fun, safe & consensual. (The ethics is questionable, but I'll get to that down below.)
GROUP CHAT
The entire cast will be thrown into a pit - uhm, I mean into a group chat together on Discord. This is mostly so that you can all get to know each other, and become friends. It's also so that I can get you all into the voice channels so that you can rehearse together, get to know each other's voices, and practice scenes together in order to really get a feel for them, so that when it comes to recording your final audio tapes, you can imagine the other actors responding to you. You can also call each other & form genuine bonds & friendships, and all that good stuff. I want us to be able to find a family in each other while we do this. It's a group project, and it's big, it's spanning at least 2 continents, and I want us all to have genuine fun with this.
Also, the group chat is where you'll be able to pick my brain about any of this, stay up to date with the progress of it, and find resources for voices to study or take inspiration from if you're having difficulty finding the right voice for your character.
AUDIO TAPES
The final product….
Please make sure you can provide clear audio, with no (or very, very little) background noise, disturbances or static.
Don't worry about fuck ups - just restart. Laugh. Swear. Yell. Nope the fuck out. Respond as genuinely as possible to all of this. There's always a chance I'll use it in a blooper reel. (I know they're puppets, but I grew up watching Monsters Inc, so these characters are getting blooper reels & BTS footage, even if I have to mildly torture you guys into providing it by putting yous in a group chat with chaotic nerds & memes & 4am infodumps because none of ys are in the same timezone.)
In order to save my laptop from frying itself when it comes to editing all the audio together & to save me some headaches & sleepless nights, please follow the instructions provided IN YOUR SCRIPT / SCREENPLAY FILE for how to record, save & send your audio files.
I can't use them in the film if I can't edit them into the time-line.
DEADLINES
First audition tapes MUST be submitted by midnight on the 25th of January, 2025, according to BST time zones. Any audition tapes sent after this time will be automatically discarded. (What's my time zone?)
If you do not get accepted into Round 2, you will be notified by the 31st of January, 2025.
Sample scripts & briefs will be sent out between the 28th of January, and the 6th of February. Please, take time to read over them & practise them (alone, in front of an audience, in front of a mirror, to your pet fish) before recording your second audition.
Second audition tapes MUST be submitted by midnight on the 21st of February, 2025, according to BST time zones. If you fail to do so, you will lose your place in the running, and you will be disqualified.
If you are to receive a different part from which you auditioned for, you will be notified by the 1st of March, 2025. You have until the 7th of March, 2025, to pull out of the project, if you are not happy about this change. If you do not respond, it will be taken as acceptance.
If you do not make the final cast, you will be informed by the 14th of March, 2025.
If you DO make the final cast, you will receive a congratulatory message by the 14th of March, 2025, which will include an invitation link to the Discord server. You MUST join the group in order to continue with this project.
There will be a lull of 7 days, in order to allow everyone to join, and to start getting to know one another.
Scripts & contextual information will be sent out between the 21st of March, and the 25th of March, 2025.
Please provide 14 days to read the script & get to know the script, the characters & the scenes.
Practice in the voice channels, call each other, practice again & again & again, experiment to see what makes the characters come to life best.
If you need a sample demo for a scene you're having particular difficulty with, let me know as soon as possible - it can take up to a week for me to animate a demo scene.
(THESE DEMO SCENES WILL CONSIST OF MORPHS, RATHER THAN THE ACTUAL PUPPETS WHICH WILL BE USED IN THE FILM.)
FINAL AUDIO TAPES MUST be submitted between the 7th of April and the 20th of April. If you submit earlier than this, it better be absolutely amazing, because otherwise I'll assume you haven't been engaging much in the group. (Sorry to pull the “forced participation” card here, but… I kinda need to, I don't want this to sound robotic or disjointed, or for it to be obvious you're all just. Talking to a wall rather than each other. I want it to sound alive, as if I have thrown all of you into a recording studio & locked the door & left yous there for a weekend.)
IF, FOR ANY REASON, YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO SUBMIT YOUR FINAL AUDIO TAPE BY THE 20TH OF APRIL, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I CAN GIVE YOU A SHORT ALLOWANCE OF EXTRA TIME TO GET THE FILE TO ME, BUT THIS TIME WINDOW WILL VARY FOR EACH ROLE.
The group chat will remain open after this, probably indefinitely, or until a not-yet-decided cut-off date. You'll all be informed of progress, and release dates, and there will be a private Discord-only premiere of this film for the cast & crew 24 hours before I premiere it on YouTube.
IF THIS IS SOMETHING YOU WANNA DO, SAVE THIS POST SOMEHOW, SHARE THIS POST, SAVE MY EMAIL ([email protected]) AND THEN NOTE DOWN THE DEADLINES SO THAT YOU DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS!!!!!

i keep seeing news of high schools taking away kids phones during school hours
do you know how stupid that is?
i get it kids need to pay attention in class and phones can be distracting but phones also are safety
the US isn't a country rn that can take students communication with their parents away and be 100% certain theyll be safe
no phones in school is ridiculous when there's guns in school
phones aren't the fucking problem
you're fighting the wrong thing
if a school shooting happens in a school with a no phone policy that physically takes the kids the phones away what happens? how long until the parents find out? will parents be able to even say they love their kid for the last time? will kids be able to say they love their parents for the last time?
phones are a problem but theyre not THE problem
so many guns are in and around schools the same day as appalachee hs in neighboring and far away states from GA
fucking ridiculous
im so over this every fucking time we have a mass school shooting
the people are repeating ourselves and our governments dont give a shit
over 300 since columbine killing over 500 ppl

Modern Day Slavery: Human Sex Trafficking Among Native American Women
Human trafficking is the third largest international crime industry, and though it affects nearly every community across our nation, it is commonplace here in the US and in Indian Country.  According to Lisa Brunner, Executive Director and CEO Sacred Spirits First Nations Coalition, who testified in front of Congress, “Native women experience violent victimization at a higher rate than any other US population.  More than 1 in 3 Native American and Alaska Native women will be raped in their lifetime; more than 6 in 10 will be physically assaulted. Native women are murdered at more than ten times the national average” (Brunner 2016).  According to a new report published in May 2016 from the National Institute of Justice, “Among American Indian and Alaska Native women, 56.1 percent have experienced sexual violence in their lifetime and 14.4 percent have experienced it in the past year. Among American Indian and Alaska Native victims, 96 percent of women and 89 percent of men have experienced sexual violence by an interracial perpetrator” (Research Report p 11).
Prior to colonial contact, violence against Native women was very rare.  In fact, women were acknowledged to be sacred and revered members of their communities. However, the long-term impacts of government actions which caused widespread poverty, low educational attainment, high rates of community and interpersonal violence, high rates of alcohol-related deaths and suicide, poor physical health, and corroded family and community relations.  The U.S. government outlawed gatherings for ceremonies and it wasn’t until 1978 that American Indians were allowed to fully practice their traditional religions. All of which the U.S. government has never acknowledged, never apologized for, or attempted to compensate for its treatment of American Indians.
From the mid-1500s when the Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto wrote in his journal how he and his men had captured Appalachee women in Florida “for their foul use and lewdness” (Galley 2002).  The fact that Native women would have sex with colonist that were connected to trade made them out to be tainted and mercenary (Fischer 2002). Because of these beliefs, Native women were raped and harassed by English surveying teams and the framework was set to justify the sexual exploitation of American Indian women who colonist believed to be sexually loose, mercenary and immoral having no regard for the norms of decent society. The U.S. Army, as immigrants moved westward, not only killed American Indian men in battle, but also slaughtered entire encampments of women, elders and children.  Referred to as “breeders”, American Indian women were raped, murdered, and sexually mutilated.
The atrocities continued throughout the generations.  In the 1850s, the U.S. government established and relocated American Indians to reservations for assimilation.  In 1879, the Bureau of Indian Affairs opened Carlisle Industrial School in Pennsylvania, which became the model for government-funded, Christian-oriented Indian boarding schools.  In its 39 years of operation, approximately 12,000 American Indian children attended (Anderson 2000).  According to the Dawes Allotment Acct in 1887, each reservations was broken up into 160 acre parcels which was allotted to individual heads of family, and it allowed the government to sell any unallotted land which resulted in 17 million acres of Indian land sold to companies or white men.  From 1950 to the 1970s, the U.S. government performed involuntary sterilization of Native women, approved of tribal termination and urban relocation efforts, and enforced large scale efforts into adopting Native children into white families.
What does all this have to do with today’s sex trafficking of Native American women?  Plenty.  History set the stage to what can be “described as “a perfect storm” of victimization, oppression, and poverty that makes Native American women vulnerable to commercial sexual exploitation” (Shattered Hearts Report 2009).  According to the Trafficking Victim Protection Act (2002), “Trafficking involves sexual exploitation of persons, predominately women and girls, involving activities related to prostitution, pornography, sex tourism, and other commercial sexual services.  Victims are often forced through physical violence to engage in sex acts or perform slavery-like labor.  Such force includes rape and other forms of sexual abuse, torture, starvation, imprisonment, threats, psychological abuse, and coercion” (22). Most of these victims were sexually abused           as kids.  Some young women are coerced into believing they are providing for their families.  All are poverty stricken and feel this is their only “career” choice.
Almost all the stories sound alike.  In the city of Duluth, a port city in Minnesota, many Native women, mothers and daughters alike, are driven into prostitution by poverty and homelessness.  Generations of Native women have sold themselves in order to survive.  There has been a large increase in the number of prostitutes since 2000, especially those who are underage.  Criminals know they are less likely to be arrested or prosecuted for trafficking and the overhead is far less than that required for selling drugs.  The internet has increased the demand for prostitutes with escort services, both online and by phone, which provides a somewhat legal means for prostitutes and buyers to connect.  The internet also aids the movement and coordination of prostitution.  Pimps coordinate meet-ups between the women and buyers at rural bars and strip clubs.  The police noted it seems to be growing in organization and sophistication (Pember 2012).
Between the significant lack of federal or state funding for helping domestically trafficked or prostituted women, and the distrust of law enforcement among Native girls and women many traffickers suffer no real consequences even if they agree to testify.  Lieutenant Scott Drewlo of the Duluth police notes, “As an example, “the big boat case” of 2000, in which a 14-year-old Native girl was sold to the crew of a ship by a gang in Duluth. According to Drewlo, organized crime in the form of gangs has played a large role in trafficking girls in and around Duluth for years. The girl was locked in a cabin on the boat for days while the crew raped her repeatedly. She managed to escape when the ship was in port in Cleveland and made her way back to Duluth, where she contacted police. In the end, however, she was too frightened to testify and disappeared. We have no way of knowing how many times this sort of thing has happened,” he says (Pember 2012).
Vednita Carter, founder of Breaking Free, a Minneapolis-based non-profit dedicated to helping women escape prostitution says “true choice is the ability to change your mind and leave a situation, however, you can’t just walk away from prostitution.  Once you’ve been involved so many things have happened that prevent you from leaving. I like to call it New Age Slavery.  At some point, their spirits fall down and they see that they are indeed victims” (2)  She claims initially some glamorize the life and speak fondly of the attention from men, wearing fancy clothes, going out to eat, staying in nice hotels.  “I tell them that’s not prostitution.  I ask them how they felt when a stranger ordered them to their knees and demanded they open their mouths. Sometimes they being to cry,” Carter said.  It is then they come to realize they’ve been hurt, things have happened to them that they never expected to happen.  A man can do anything he wants to a prostitute; “the women who come to us are broken” said Carter.
Now that sex trafficking is beginning to get the attention of federal, state, and tribal health and social service agencies, they are struggling to create meaningful ways to serve sex trafficking victims. The stringent barriers created though are causing problems.  Some services are requiring adult victims to cooperate with law enforcement to receive services.  Because some victims won’t cooperate, they are turned away.  Minors, on the other hand, are not required to work with law enforcement, but are encouraged to do so.  The first and only shelter designated to serve Native American sex trafficking victims has recently been funded by the Department of Justice.  Located on the Crow Creek Reservation, Pathfinders, as it’s called, is due to open later this year and will offer long-term housing for survivors as well as mental health, job training, and spiritual support services.
The question arises, would sex trafficking decrease if prostitution was made legal? The Nordic Model, also known as the Sex Buyer Law, decriminalizes all those who are prostituted, provides support services to help them exit, and makes buying people for sex a criminal offense, in order to reduce the demand that drives sex trafficking.  It was pioneered in Sweden after extensive research and has been adopted by countries such as Canada, Norway, Australia, and New Zealand. The UK is currently looking into implementing the Nordic Model.  Has it worked? According to the countries that have criminalized sex buyers, such as Sweden, have seen a significant drop in sex trafficking per capita than Denmark and Germany where buying sex is legal.  Street prostitution has halved and the Swedish government determined that this is not because prostitution has moved inside.
Native American women experience violence, rape, physical assault, and murder in the United States at a higher rate than any other population.  This outrage alone should make people stand up and take notice. Prior to colonization, violence against Native American women was rare, however the long-term impacts of government actions caused widespread poverty, high rates of alcoholism and drug use, and low educational attainment throughout the generations of the Indian nations.  History set the stage for the perfect storm and Native American women became vulnerable to commercial sexual exploitation.  Because of poverty and homelessness, mothers and daughters alike have turned to prostitution in order to survive.  Thanks to the dedication of many organizations like “Breaking Free” and funding from the Justice Department, giving these women a choice to end their life of prostitution with shelter, education, job training, and spiritual support, there may be hope for some of these women.  Gaining trust in law enforcement and providing safe access to those who decide to go after their perpetrators remains a huge problem in helping victims.  Some think adopting the Nordic Model will decrease sex trafficking everywhere. Awareness is key to the start of the solution.  We must, as a nation, end poverty; we must, as a nation, end homelessness; we must, as a nation, embrace our brothers and sisters with compassion and understanding. For without our help, this crime on women will never go away.

The AR-15 used by Appalachee shooter Colt Gray was given to him as a Christmas present from his father, the recently arrested Colin Gray.
An AR-15.
To celebrate the birth of Christ.
Where in 31 flavors of f**k would someone get an insanely irresponsible idea like that?
